10^th Febuary’2011; we are now reaching the finish line…….and the countdown begins………..

Your entries should reach us on or before 15^th February. Please refer our earlier E-mails for the instructions for submission.

Hurry up….we are waiting for your entries…….. Sure you feel excited same as we do…..

1^st stage short listing will be done by a team of experts to select 10-12 entries; we will announce the names of shortlisted teams by 21^nd February. The 2^nd stage final evaluation of the short-listed entries will be done through presentation by representative members of the team to select two winners.

As you know, final evaluation will be coupled with a three days workshop on 3^rd, 4^th & 5^th March 2011, with world known Universal Design Experts. Though all students and their faculty advisors are invited to attend this workshop, only two students from each shortlisted team and their faculty advisor will be sponsored to attend this workshop. Please refer to the details of workshop in our previous E-mails.

IMPORTANT DATES:

· Last date of submission of competition entries: 15^th February, 2011

· Announcement of shortlisted entries: 21^st February, 2011

· Jury of the short-listed participants at SPA Bhopal along with a hands-on workshop on Universal Design: 3^rd, 4^th & 5^th March, 2011

· The three days of the Universal Design workshop will give you a unique experience through intense interaction and hands-on experiences and will help develop an insight to what you think, create and build.

UNIVERSAL DESIGN WORKSHOP

3^RD, 4^TH & 5^TH MARCH 2011

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

Universal Design Workshop to be held on 3^rd, 4^th & 5^th March 2011 is planned as a culmination of a National Student Design Competition for Design for All/Universal Design that we floated in Oct’2010. We received tremendous response for this competition from architecture and design schools with about eighty registrations. The registered student teams have now started working on their designs based on the design brief and in consultation with their faculty advisors. The teams are also provided with a list of books, websites and other online resources on universal design to make their challenge an informed attempt. They will submit their work by 15^th February 2011. The evaluation of this competition will be coupled with the three days workshop on 3^rd, 4^th & 5^th March 2011. The two best entries will be awarded and all shortlisted entries will be displayed as an exhibition for the professionals for wider dissemination. Registered students and their faculty advisors are invited to attend this workshop.

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES

· Create awareness about ‘Universal Design’ amongst budding architects, planners and design professionals to support social sustainability

· Provide hands-on experience to understand practical application of Universal Design to design Inclusive built-environment for everyone including people with functional limitations.

· Learn about Universal Design education, teaching and practice

· Develop example of a model building through intense Universal Design Education

PARTICIPANTS

Students of architecture, planning and design, who registered for ‘National Student Design Competition’ and their faculty advisors, are invited to attend this workshop. The Exhibition of competition entries will be open to all interested individuals, architects, planner, engineers and all other stakeholders involved in development of built-environment and infra-structure.
